Motor Rewinding

Motor Rewinding & Repair Services

Before you replace a faulty motor, bring it to us. Our qualified tradespeople specialise in electric motor rewinding and repair – and in many cases, a motor that appears beyond saving can be restored to full working condition at a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Motor rewinding and repair services are delivered through Davies Electric Motor Specialists, owned and operated by Midland Irrigation, from our workshop in East Bendigo.

What Is Motor Rewinding?

Over time, the copper windings inside an electric motor can fail due to heat, moisture, insulation breakdown, voltage spikes or simply age. When windings become defective, the motor loses efficiency – or stops working altogether.

Rewinding replaces those failed windings with new copper coils, restoring the motor to its original specification. In many cases, this is significantly more cost-effective than purchasing a new motor, particularly for larger or specialist units.

Our Rewinding Process

  • The motor is received and assessed by our qualified team
  • You will be contacted with our findings and a recommendation before any work begins
  • If windings are confirmed defective, the motor is stripped, and new coils are wound
  • The motor is reassembled, tested and returned to service

We make new coils in-house and carry an extensive stock of winding materials, so turnaround is fast.

What We Repair

Because we specialise in motor rewinding, our capabilities extend across a broad range of electrical equipment:

  • Electric motors (all makes and models – domestic to heavy industrial)
  • Generators
  • Electric pumps
  • Inverters
  • Coils

We work on all makes and models, from small domestic units through to large heavy-duty industrial motors. No motor is too big or too small.

Core Testing – Protect Your Investment

We offer core testing as part of our diagnostic and repair process. Core testing detects damage to internal motor components that would otherwise go unnoticed – including hidden faults that cause ongoing energy waste.

Undetected core damage can cost thousands of dollars in wasted electricity over a motor’s operating life. Core testing also confirms that repairs have been completed successfully, giving you confidence before the motor goes back into service.

Pump Rebuilds & Seal Replacement

In addition to motor rewinding, our team is experienced in pump rebuilding and seal replacement. If your pump has failed or is losing pressure, bring it in for assessment – it may need only a seal replacement or a minor rebuild rather than full replacement.

We service pumps from all the leading brands we stock and distribute, including Pumpmaster, Inoxpa, Davey, Ebara and Pentax.

On-Site Service Available

For those situations where bringing equipment to us isn’t practical, we offer on-site service. Our team can come to your property or worksite to assess and repair equipment in the field – minimising downtime and disruption to your operation.

Our Guarantee

We are trade-qualified electrical tradespeople, and we guarantee our work. We maintain the highest standard of competency and exercise honesty and diligence in the performance of our duties.
We provide continual staff training and use updated, well-maintained workshop equipment – so the quality of our repairs is consistent, whatever we’re working on.
